Research on Developing
Exceptional Human Capital

The Foundation recently awarded a three-year research grant to Dr. David Lubinski of Vanderbilt University. The grant will enable Dr. Lubinski to examine incoming data from two longitudinal studies of men and women who have been participating in the Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth (SMPY). Dr. Lubinski will seek to understand the optimal mix of personal assets and environmental catalysts for accomplishing spectacular and eminent scientific achievement. The research will seek to locate the determinants that differentiate those who fulfill their enormous potential and benefit society versus those who fall short of this mark. The findings of the research will be disseminated widely to scholars, reporters, and educational leaders.

The Neuropsychology of
Creative Intelligence

The Foundation provided support to Professor John Geake of the Westminster Institute of Education at Oxford Brookes University. Dr. Geake will produce an extensive bibliographic review of the literature on creative intelligence, leading to the articulation of a robust theoretical model of creative intelligence and its relationship to academic giftedness. The research project will also include a neuroimaging study of creative intelligence in gifted subjects undertaken in collaboration with the Centre for Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Brain at the University of Oxford (Department of Neurology).
