Pamela Thompson is Vice President for Communications at the John Templeton Foundation. Responsible for planning strategic and innovative public relations and producing highly visible collateral materials, she organizes each team of talented designers, writers, website designers, and public relations professionals to maximize publicity and attract the interest of top-notch print, Internet and broadcast journalists. Since the Foundation has a global focus, Mrs. Thompson travels extensively, overseeing publicity at events, conferences and award presentations. She is Director of Public Affairs for In Character: A Journal of Everyday Virtues.
Mrs. Thompson received her master’s degree in social psychology from the University of Dayton. She has co-published articles on small-group behavior in the Small Group Research Journal, and was editor of the online journal for the Society for Consumer Psychology.
Before joining the Foundation, Mrs. Thompson was Adjunct Professor of Statistics in the Psychology Department at the University of Louisville, where she earned her B.A. in psychology.
A former Director of Independent Giving and a Vice President of the Fund for the Arts in Louisville, Kentucky, she owned two award-winning, highly regarded public relations and advertising agencies in Louisville. Mrs. Thompson has won the prestigious Addy award in advertising and several Louis awards.
Mrs. Thompson is an active member of the American Psychological Association, the Public Relations Society of America, the Society for Consumer Psychology, the Philadelphia Public Relations Society and the Communications Network of the Council of Foundations.
Mrs. Thompson is a member of the Junior League of Philadelphia, St. David’s Episcopal Church in Radnor, Pennsylvania, and the Vestry Committee for All Soul’s Episcopal Church, St. Hubert’s, New York.
