Stephen Klimczuk
Vice President, Strategy and Evaluation

Stephen Klimczuk is Vice President, Strategy and Evaluation for the John Templeton Foundation. A member of the leadership team, he is responsible for analyzing and improving the Foundation’s philanthropic Return on Investment, and for driving forward innovations in foundation strategy, evaluation and performance measurement.

Prior to joining the Foundation in 2006, Mr. Klimczuk served as a Principal of A.T. Kearney, a large global management consultancy, and as Director, A.T. Kearney’s Global Business Policy Council, a respected “applied think tank” for CEOs which he helped build drawing on multiple disciplines, intelligence sources and analytical techniques. Based in Washington, D.C., he was also a lead consultant on scenario planning and corporate foresight engagements in industries ranging from petrochemicals to aerospace, and developed and co-chaired annual client CEO Retreats in venues from Berlin to Shanghai. While at A.T. Kearney, Mr. Klimczuk won several intellectual capital awards, and was responsible for cultivating and involving outside experts, opinion leaders and policy-makers.

In the early 1990s, he was a director and executive board member of the rapidly growing World Economic Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, an institution best known for its annual meeting in Davos, and also served as managing director of World Link Publications S.A., the Forum’s publishing arm. Mr. Klimczuk has also been an associate at Goldman Sachs in New York and Bain & Company in San Francisco.

Mr. Klimczuk earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School, where he was a US Japan Society Fellow, and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UCLA in Economics, where he was a University of California Regents Scholar. He pursued further study at the Institut Catholique de Paris, and maintains continuing academic links to Emmanuel College, Cambridge and Massey College in the University of Toronto.

The son of Polish émigré parents who settled in Canada and California, Mr. Klimczuk is a Knight of Malta, a faculty member of the Salzburg Seminar, a Freeman and Liveryman of the City of London, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a “World Young Leader” selected by the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt.

Stephen Klimczuk is married with four daughters (one deceased), and takes a keen interest in travel and architecture.
